Yes, although citizens of GCC countries can travel to Kuwait visa-free, foreign residents living in GCC countries do need a visa to enter Kuwait. Before the online visa to enter the country was introduced it was necessary to physically go to a Kuwaiti embassy or consulate to apply for a visa.

Now, legal foreign residents living in GCC countries can apply for a Kuwait eVisa, regardless of their nationality. Even if someone’s nationality is not included in the list of countries eligible for the Kuwait eVisa, they can apply for one as they are a GCC resident.

The application for the Kuwait eVisa is quick and straightforward to complete and visitors can enter Kuwait for up to 90 days with the eVisa. There are also other types of Kuwait visas available.

How do you apply for a Kuwait eVisa if you are a GCC resident?

GCC residents can apply for the Kuwait eVisa by completing the online eVisa form. Applicants simply have to select ‘Yes’ when asked ‘Do you have a Residence Permit for a GCC country?’ It is necessary to select the country of residence from the drop-down menu under the heading ‘Select the GCC country’.

The rest of the form requires applicants to enter some basic information, such as contact details, passport details, and travel plans. There are also some security-related questions.

What Are the Requirements for GCC Residents Applying for a Kuwait eVisa?

There are several conditions that the applicant must fulfill when applying for a Kuwait eVisa. To be granted an electronic visa, the GCC resident must meet the following requirements:

  • The planned visit to Kuwait must be no longer than 90 days
  • The purpose of the visit must be tourism only
  • The applicant must have no history of serious criminal activity or involvement in terrorism that could make them a security threat to Kuwait

In order for the application to be successful, GCC residents need to have the following to hand when they are filling out the online form:

  • A passport with a minimum validity of 6 months
  • A scanned copy of their GCC residence document (though this can be provided after the initial application)
  • A credit or debit card to pay the visa fee

Once the application is approved, the applicant receives the eVisa by email. To enter Kuwait, GCC residents can show a copy of the Kuwait eVisa and their passport to the Kuwaiti border authorities.

Applying for a Kuwait travel visa if you have a GCC residence permit

If you live in a GCC country but are a citizen of a different country, you can still apply for a Kuwait travel visa, providing you hold a residence permit. The residence permit must be valid for at least 6 months as of your entry to Kuwait.
